Madison had an appointment at Emory Genetics on 10/20. They tested her blood ammonia level and amino acid levels and looked over her diet. Her dose of Buphenyl is increased and her Citrulline is increased as well. Some of her amino acid levels are raised and by increasing citrulline, it lowers the other amino acid levels that help maintain her liver functionality. She thankfully is VERY understanding about this and is taking all of her medicine.
As for me...I was tested for the same mutated gene as Madison so that we can know the possibility of the other kids having the same mutated gene. Thankfully I do NOT carry the mutated gene. It is very rare that a mutation occurs when it is not passed on. We are just lucky that we have a metabolic geneticist to work with to help keep Madison well.
