Awaiting test results
The past 3 weeks have been very difficult on us. A couple of weeks before school we started to see Madison's energy level slowly decline and she was experiencing nausea and vomiting intermitely. The first week of school she was sick for 3 days and I thought that it could be nerves. The following Monday I got a call from the nurse, she has thrown up again. So I take her in because we just felt like something wasn't right. The pediatrician ordered blood tests. The first blood test showed her liver enzymes to be high and they wanted to repeat them the following week. Well the next week her enzymes had tripled. We had a visit to the gastro-intestinal doctor, and was told they suspected Wilson's disease and scheduled a liver biopsy for this Wednesday. So on Sunday we had to collect urine for 24 hours (fun for me and Madison) so that they could test the amount of copper in her urine. Then we went for another blood test. Thank goodness the phlembotomist is excellent in calming children's fears and very good at what she does! This morning the doctor calls to tell us that her liver enzymes have lowered substanially that the only thing that keeps coming up positive is mono (which we knew already). The liver biopsy is cancelled! Yeah! I think I will sleep better tonight knowing that my baby is going to be alright.
